The easy way to book a reliable London 'Man with a Van'

Moving Long Distance from London

Although our Movers spend most days moving customers in and around London, we do get requests from London dwellers who have decided to move on further afield so this post is all about long distance moves from London to basically anywhere outside the M25 and beyond. Or in other words, moving long distance from London (but still within the UK).

So the time has come to move out of London, and you're thinking about organising your relocation to pastures new. This could simply be one of the home counties on the other side of the M25, or depending on circumstances it may be further away up north somewhere. Wherever you're moving to let's consider your options.

Firstly, to make it worthwhile hiring a moving company to go half way across the country, or even in most cases just outside of London, you'll need to have a decent amount of stuff. This would usually include furniture such as bed(s), mattress, sofa and all the usual things, along with your boxes and bags.

Long distance moves tend to be bigger than your average quick flatshare type of move in London. It needs to be worthwhile to dedicate a vehicle and moving crew to the job, which will keep them tied up for longer.

Planning your move

First thing you need to do is find a suitable London based Mover company that carries out long distance moves from London to anywhere in the UK.

Not every Mover in London does long distance removals, the reason being is that many prefer to stay in London and do several jobs (especially during busy weekend periods) rather than get tied up for pretty much the whole day on a long distance job going out of London.

If possible, try to arrange your move for a weekday, which can sometimes be more economical but more importantly because you will probably find it easier to locate a London Mover willing to take a long distance move going out of London on a less busy day.

Another consideration is how you will be getting to the destination. If there is room in the removals van most people prefer to travel with the Movers, but if that's not possible due to a bigger crew or lack of available seating you'll need to arrange travel to try and arrive before the Movers get there. The last thing you want is the Movers hanging around for hours waiting to unload, not least because it's going to increase the cost.

If it's a big move (as most long distance moves need to be to justify hiring a Mover company) then you definitely want to invest in some good quality moving boxes. Just be careful not to overpack them so everything can be loaded and unloaded into the van without a problem (ie. someone doing their back in).

Summing up

If you are looking to leave London and embark on a long distance move to a brand new location it's best to start planning early and arrange a booking with a suitable Mover.

As mentioned it's not really a service for just a few boxes and bags (mainly because the price might seem excessive if you only have a few things) but for full moves with a relatively large amount of belongings hiring experienced Movers is going to make your day a whole lot easier and less stressful. Happy Moving!
